Hello hello,

Time flies! I’ve been in Sydney for about 3,5 months now and I feel like I’m slowly but surely getting everything under control, for however much that is possible for me at least.

Let me give you a quick introduction to me at the moment, feeling adult AF. I’m sitting in the library, as our WiFi at home is dissapointing as always, after visiting the World Press Photo Exhibition and doing some yoga. Even better, this morning I’ve eaten some homemade toast with avo (I know, so Australian) and drank tea with apple cider vinegar. However, I’m very aware that the fact that this day has got me so excited and feeling responsible most probably says something about my day to day living situation.

Of course, being away for a year in Australia and its surrounding countries sounds like a dream, but my impressive travel plans, addiction to shopping, love for a good party and unstoppable appetite have to be paid for one way or another. So I’ve decided to get myself not one, but two jobs (YAY). Meaning that on a day to day basis, I often make 14-16 hour days or find myself working 11 days in a row, working-out, hiking, going out, relaxing and sleeping, if I can fit that in somewhere. Oh, and updating this blog, one of the things that tends to be placed at the bottom of the to do’s. But not today! (You know, productivity and adult-life and such)

But at the end of the day, I cannot complain really. I’ve been eating a lot healthier, haven’t had a dominos $5 pizza deal in weeks and reduced my number of deserts from 5 to just 1-2 a day. My weeks of going out 6 times may be done, but quality over quantity for this matter is probably a must in everybody’s life and regular exercise will probably enlongen my great life, at least according to the internet.

Also, I’ve already seen so much beautiful scenery in and around Sydney, I’ll definitely post more on that later! It keeps amazing me how much there is to see around here. And that’s not all, both of my jobs are actually very nice, it’s a good balance to divide my weekly 50 hours between 2 different venues, so if you ever find yourself in the area; pls don’t hestitate to come visit me in Joseph Hyde or Sokyo.

So how do I juggle all of these activities in just 24hour timeframes? I don’t actually. I’m still as chaotic as ever and usually want to do as much as possible in one day. But as long as I force myself into getting some rest in between and try to enjoy everything I do as much as possible, it keeps me pretty sane.

So stay tuned for more posts about what I actually do around here. And maybe hopefully eventually a proper guide on how to live a healthy and balanced life, if I’ll ever find out.

Re-losing my blog virginity

Hi guys,

It’s been ages since I last wrote something here and I feel bad about not being present for so long. It feels as if I’m losing my blogging virginity all over again.

Again with a goal of traveling the world, yet again having a hard time to save up for it.
However, some things did change, I’ve moved to Amsterdam, tried to become better at balancing everything out and therefore being more capable of continuing to write. Overall, I tried to become better at life.

I think I’ve succeeded in this a fair bit, so please feel free to join me on my journey through the rough and expensive city life of Amsterdam, and my ways of avoiding and transforming this.

Lots of love,

Flu and rainy days

Hi everyone!

I hope you are all doing well in this cold autumnal weather. Here in Cologne there has been a flu epidemic during the past weeks and just when I thought it had skipped me, I woke up this morning feeling like shit. With a cold, a headache, throat ache and everything else which is flu-like.

So I’ve been trying to recover today by taking a lot of vitamins, drinking some lemon-ginger-honey tea and taking it slow. I even borrowed some nice bath oils from my roommate so I can take a nice warm bath and go to bed early tonight. And then all I can do is hope, pray and keeping my fingers crossed that it’ll be a lot better tomorrow, because I really don’t have time to be ill. Especially since I’ve found out I have to write 4 papers and prepare 3 presentations before the end of the month, one’s gotta love studentlife!

But I must also admit that having a decent excuse to not do anything and sleep feels kindof okay if it’s just for a day, finally a reason to do what I always love to do, haha. I sound a bit too lazy now I guess.

Anyway, I hope to be able to get back to you soon with some nice and healthy updates! Oh, and if you guys have any anti-flu tips, PLS SHARE!!

PS. The book I’m reading -hearing vision, seeing voices, is a very interesting book and I can definitely recommend reading it! However, I bought it in South Africa, so I’m not completely sure if the bookstores elsewhere sell it as well, but here’s a link to amazon:

(Very) Long time no see

Hi everyone!

I should be very ashamed, and I am. It’s been over a year since the last time I wrote something here. Not completely without reason though, because even though I’ve loved everything and anything in South Africa and I would have loved to share it with you, there are always some drawbacks you’ve got to learn to adjust to. One of those was the fact the wifi was completely shit. Like I-cannot-even-look-at-this-snapchat-shit. So you can imagine that to upload photos you had got to be some kind of magic worker, and magic has never really been my passion, nor my strength for that matter. Another reason was that unfortunately my phone and other important stuff got stolen, so I was trying to work that out, calling back and forth with home and trying to get my new stuff to me in South Africa. These things made me a little reluctant to write, unfortunately. Despite these two unfortunate events, I have lived probably the best six months of my life so far in South Africa  and I can only recommend everyone else to also go there and explore.

But now I am back, or actually, I am in Cologne in Germany at the moment. A little less adventurous, but nevertheless also beautiful, just very different. At least my wifi is good enough to post pictures and I can eat a lot of bratwurst. So allow me to virtually take you to all of my favorite spots in Cologne, through all of my streetstyle fashion moments and of course some new money-saving challenges. Now that one trip is over I have got to start saving for the next ones. Who made traveling so addictive and expensive?!

But first, let me take you through my SA highlights, so you can enjoy just as much as I did. Okay, almost as much.

Bad blogging period

Hi everyone!

As you might have noticed I’ve been going through a bad blogging period lately. And by ‘bad’ I mean terrible, in this sentence bad is the understatement of the year (cheers tot that). This isn’t for no reason though. Mainly it’s because I’ve been lacking time, but also because I’ve been lacking the energy and enthusiasm to write.

I’ve been dealing with studying and working moreover, but next tot that I’ve been thinking what it is exactly that I want to deliver on this page, besides giving me more reason to save for South Africa of course.

I’m still not exactly sure, but I’m getting there. I’ve been spinning my head around what it is that I like and what parts of my life I want to be on the internet. Because even though I believe everything is pretty fascinating, I can totally imagine not everybody thinks of a trip to the supermarket as an adventure. I must say though, it keeps life interesting, so I can definitely recommend this way of seeing things.

But I’m wandering now. Anyway, I’ve been planning on buying an actual personal page to work my way through this blogging life and maybe follow a course on how to become a better web designer, so I can develop and become better at what I want to do. So don’t worry, or do, see for yourself, I won’t quit writing, I’m getting ready to be back!

As for my challenge, it has been quite difficult, but I haven’t shopped yet. So that makes a week, yay! I’ll try really hard to continue, even though it is becoming more and more difficult with my birthday coming up. BE STRONG.

Speak to you soon! xoxo

Happy new year!

Hi everyone!

First of all, a happy new year to all of you! Although I must admit, I don’t think I’m even allowed to wish you a happy new year anymore. Oh well..

Anyway, with the new year come new chances, ‘an empty new book to write’ and those kind of phrases. I decided to write myself a good one, starting with the new year’s dive me and two of my friends participated in.
To inform you, the new year’s dive is exactly what it sounds like: 10.000 crazy Dutch people running into freezing cold water whilst the temperature is barely above zero. But I must say, it was quite refreshing actually! I took the dive when I hadn’t even slept yet, I even might still have been a little tipsy, but after my dive, I was totally awake and feeling so fresh, yes literally.
So we like to say this year can only be good after this refreshing great start (We had been trying to participate for 5 year already, but failed every year ‘till now)

Together with the new year, also come new fashion challenges and a new bucket list for 2015! On my bucket list is, of course, my trip to South Africa, among things like running half a marathon, sending a message in a bottle and doing more ‘random acts of kindness’.
I already did some random acts of kindness, so that is working for me so far! And in order to save some more for my African trip I’ve came up with a new fashion challenge for next month. Or, well, it isn’t exactly new, but it has been a year since I last tried this, so I thought it would be fun to try it again next month: The 30 days, 30 outfits challenge! And of course I’m not allowed to shop during those 30 days. I might extend this prohibition to 60 days, since I bought way too many pieces of clothing lately and I really may not buy any more!

Well I think I’ve said enough for today, I shouldn’t talk for all the days I’ve missed to write (moment of shame for this one)

Speak to you soon xoxo

Late birthday gift

Hi everyone!

I’m so happy!! Today must be the best day of the week, maybe even month. However, I am going to the spa tomorrow.
Anyway, I went with my mom to Amsterdam to finally buy my birthday present! Even though my birthday was in February, which is ages ago, the present made it all okay, because I got the sweetest little bracelet from Tiffany&Co. The best time of my life already started when we entered the store, it was like a candy store but a million times better.
Then, this really cute guy, wearing a suit, helped us to pick the best one. This on its own was already enough to make me happier than ever, but when he handed me the bag it felt like a moment best described in the movie ‘Shopaholic’, I refer: “Do you know that thing when you see someone cute and he smiles, and your heart kind of goes like warm butter sliding down hot toast?” Well, that’s exactly how I felt.

But besides this great gift, I also ordered a new phone, I found this great deal for an iPhone 6 online, so this will be my new baby. I must admit though, that I mostly had order it since I managed to drop my phone into the toilet last week, so it was kind of a necessity. But that doesn’t mean I’m not excited about my new phone!
I’m only hoping that my old phone will come to life for one last time so I can make a copy of it on my laptop, I feel lost without all my information and great apps. (I know, phone addict)

Hi Zurich

Hi everyone!

top of the world

I’m writing this from Zurich (jeeej!), where I’m visiting a friend. She’s been studying there since September, so I thought it was about time that I’d come and look how she’s doing. Zurich is, just as the other cities I’ve visited recently, a great city and I’m really delighted by the fact that Europe still seems to be having so many great cities for me to discover. Zurich probably wouldn’t have been on my list if she didn’t study here, so it is only good that she is, because Zurich has definitely surprised me in a good way.

Unfortunately I haven’t made so many pictures up till now, since it is so cold my hands are frozen all the time and I kind of forgot to buy batteries for my camera, but I got that set now.
Tomorrow we’re going to visit Luzern, which also supposed to be a great city, I can’t see more of Switzerland!

Copenhagen – OUTFITS

Hi All!

During my trip to Copenhagen, I (of course) felt the need to look fashionably responsible 24 hours a day. Despite the fact that I’m not such a beauty while I’m asleep, for that reason I also won’t join the woke-up-like-this hype, but this motivated me even more for my daytime outfits. (Not that I don’t feel the need to look properly in the Netherlands btw, but I feel like everyone in Copenhagen puts in more effort, which makes me very happy) Continue reading

Inspiration: ALL WHITE

Hi everyone!

Today’s post is about another one of my inspirational factors in life. And since it is spring, what better represents the happy light spring feeling than the color white.
I must admit, normally I’m not so much of a white lover, but this season’s trend has got me head over heels. I’m even planning on buying a pair of white jeans, preferably the ripped skinny ones. But at the same time I must remain honest, this white-trend thing only works for me when you transform your entire outfit to white, and not just one piece. Of course this is just how I feel, but I personally feel a high level of awkwardness and replaced guilt when I see someone pairing their white jeans with a pair of brown boots. Yes, it has come to my notice that many women still have the (misplaced) thought that combining the white jeans with brown boots will magically transform their jeans into a winter item, it does not. I have even seen Uggs, they take this idea way too far.

But I’m wandering from the subject. I was actually planning on showing my source of inspiration for this summer, so take a look. In the meantime I’ll try to figure out how to implement this into my wardrobe while sticking to my challenges.
